What resources are available?

State and county-level websites with databases of transcribed information such as marriages, cemetery records, photos, family Bible inscriptions, family names, and historical references, to name a few. We also offer research guides, tutorials, and links to other helpful sites.

PROJECT HISTORY

The USGenWeb Project started in the spring of 1996, originating from the Kentucky Comprehensive Genealogy Database Project (KyGenWeb). Its goal was to create a single entry point for free genealogical data for all US counties, supported by a network of volunteers. In June 1996, this project expanded to include every state and every county in the United States, becoming a major resource for online genealogy research.
